Forever like that
So, I went on a date the other night. He brought me sunflowers, a whole field of them actually (so sweet). Also, can flowers be a love language? Because I think they're one of mine. Anyways, He was so intentional with me. It was like He knew me, knew my soul. He wrote me a love letter saying "I thirst to love you and to be loved by you – this is how precious you are to Me.” Swoon.
Sounds like the perfect man, right? Well that’s because it was with the perfect man aka Jesus Himself. That’s right. Jesus pursues my heart like no other. He didn’t just give me a bouquet of flowers; He gave me a whole field of them. “For me there is no one any more important in the world than you.” It wasn’t just like He knew me, but He actually does know me. Better than I know myself. “I know you through and through – I know everything about you. The very hairs on your head I have numbered.” That’s what makes Him so intentional. He truly loves me; He wills my good. His love is different because He is love itself. Not a hint of selfishness masks His love. “I cherish you more than you can imagine – to the point of dying on a cross for you.” His love is perfect and sadly, I am not and won’t be able to ever love Him in the way He deserves. But that doesn’t matter to Him. He meets me where I’m at- brokenness and all- and still chooses to love me. “No matter how far you may wander, no matter how often you forget Me, no matter how many crosses you have in this life; there is one thing I want you to always remember, one thing that will never change: I thirst for you- just as you are.”
This was not the first time Jesus has wooed me and definitely won’t be the last. I remember sitting in adoration in college one day and I started to hear these lyrics from Forever Like That on my heart.
At first I was like, love this song, but trying to spend some QT (quality time, not Quick Trip) with Jesus here. But when these words kept coming up, I knew Jesus was speaking to me through this song (He’s good to me). From that day on, we made that our song. And now, every time I hear it, I know it’s Jesus loving on me and I want to spend forever like that.
If you’re in need of a little romance in your life, put on a cute dress and go on a date with Jesus, the romantic. Read St. Teresa of Calcutta’s I Thirst for You. Find a love song to call your own (I’ll let you borrow our’s for now). Let Him pursue your heart. Let Him romance you. I can guarantee He’s been trying since before you were born.
