First things first, I'm a realist
I know we just met, but I’m about to get real with you. Sometimes it really bothers me when someone tries to copy what I wear. Dumb, I know. But my clothes help me express myself. What I wear is a reflection of who I am. Sure, it doesn’t define me, but in a way it makes me, well me. My authentic self. Being my authentic self means that I’m being who God created me to be. We are made in the image and likeness of God. Living as our authentic selves means living in a way that transforms us into Christ’s likeness. One of my favorite quotes is “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” Okay, maybe we can’t do that by lookin’ fresh, but we can use our clothes as an outlet to express our authenticity to set this world ablaze.
My authentic self is very flawed. That’s just my humanness (thanks Adam & Eve, love y’all). Too often, my authentic self finds itself being jealous of other women, comparing my looks, my talents, even my holiness to them. That struggle is real. But the truth is, we need each other, ladies. We need to encourage each other to be authentic with ourselves and with each other. After all, we are one body of Christ. I hope that when you scroll through my blog and see my pictures (shout out to my roomie, Sally, for taking all my pictures and making me look good), you don’t compare yourself to me or become jealous of me because, let me tell you up front, there is no need for that. I go through the same struggles as you- let’s have coffee and chat about it sometime. But until then, let’s not let comparison and jealousy steal our joy and stop us from being who God meant us to be.
I hope, that by sharing my very self to you, brokenness and all, through this blog or in person (always looking for new friends), we can help each other find our authentic selves, share Christ to everyone we meet, and set the world on fire. So let’s stop the comparison, the jealousy, and the pretending. Let’s just be real with each other.
With that being said, here’s one of my favorite outfit! White for days. This outfits includes cream shorts, orange earrings, and gold sandals from jcrew factory, cream sweater from forever21, and a colorful clutch from banana republic. Because I got all of these items way back when, you probably won’t be able to find these exact items in stores, but fear not, I’ve found very similar items for you to check out. Also, you know that whole authenticity thing I’ve been rambling about? Well, here’s your chance to let your individuality shine! Make this outfit your own and post a picture in the comment section ☺ Thanks for stopping by!
